A Midsummer Night's Dream: STYLED SHOOT AT ADDISON WOODS
We always love to be apart of styled shoots, but this one had to be one of our top favorites. When planning a photoshoot, people usually don't realize how much coordination needs to happen behind the scenes to truly fit the overall vision of all the vendors involved. When it comes to flowers and styled shoots, we really love to do unique things since we have the creative freedom that we usually don't get with everyday clients. The whole point of styled shoots is to show our potential, and to help brides expand their vision to something bigger and bolder than they ever thought was possible.
We worked with photographer Annie Lui and part of her vision for this styled shoot was to have something different in the color palette than the typical soft pinks and creams that brides usually go with. We ended up going with an array of hot pinks and blues, vibrant pops of fuchsia, with a sprinkle of lavender.
Color schemes can be so powerful and can strongly effect the mood of the photos and what people feel when they view them. With deep cool colors like the ones we used, we envisioned this styled shoot to take place on a breezy summer night, something straight out of a fairytale, and maybe add some fireflies and elegant vibrant dresses worn by the guests. Creating this scene of where you could see the setting helps tremendously with bringing that certain personality and life into the photos that you were looking for.
We set the shoot up at Addison Woods, a wedding and events venue tucked near the front of The Woodlands on a quaint piece of land. The venue has that southern charm to it, with a bright and open barn-style reception hall. The chapel is also very simplistic and pure with beaming natural light and white wooden walls.
Also scattered around the property are historic oak trees with branches creating canopies that would make the perfect spot to set up outdoor dining in the summer; keeping cool in the shade beneath the trees.
Our focal point of the shoot was to transform a traditional wooden farm table by covering it with lush arrangements. We lined four arrangements in stone vases and then added a fresh garland made with fresh blue hydrangeas and quicksand roses to cascade off the side of the table. We then placed two meadow pieces on each side of the table to make it feel enclosed and intimate for the guests. Overall, we wanted to make it feel like you were stepping into a fairytale world.
Every detail of the table setting fit perfectly with the theme. Cake Conspiracy made hot pink sparkly macaroons to place on each setting and they also had incredible little bites at the dessert table which surrounded the wedding cake. At the end of the shoot, we got to try her homemade blueberry creampuffs and might have been the best thing we have ever tasted. She did such a great job at adding a little more character to what usually is just a cake table. The edible sparkles were one of our favorite touches.
We are so excited for you to see the final product of this styled shoot! Everyone that was involved is extremely talented and we loved making this vision come to life.
